At Tesoro, community investment is more than check writing. We believe our employees’ financial contributions, as well as their donations of time and talent through volunteerism, are just as important as the funding provided by the Company.
Based on input from a survey of over 1,800 Tesoro employees and a review of industry best practices, our comprehensive employee engagement programs include workplace giving, scholarship and volunteer opportunities.
Workplace Giving – Matching Gifts
Tesoro will match – dollar-for-dollar – gifts up to $5,000 per employee, per year, to two- and four-year colleges and universities and gifts up to $5,000 per employee, per year, to most 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, including local United Ways, and K-12 schools.
Dollars for Doers
Employees can earn up to $500 per year for a non-profit organization or K-12 school based on the number of hours spent volunteering with that organization. Individuals can earn up to two (2) $250 awards for every 25 hours recorded. A group of five (5) or more employees can earn a group award of $500 for a minimum of 25 combined volunteer hours – limit one award per group.
Tesoro Scholarship Program
Annually, Tesoro awards up to 50 new $4,000 undergraduate scholarships to eligible, dependent children of qualified Tesoro employees and retirees. Scholarships may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever comes first, resulting in up to $800,000 in scholarships to serving students each year.
