Recruitment fraud is a sophisticated fraud involving the offer of fictitious job opportunities.

It has come to our attention that unauthorized individuals or groups pretending to be Tesoro or claiming to represent Tesoro have been sending out fake employment offers using the Tesoro name.

Most often these fraudulent offers of employment are sent via email. These e-mails can look legitimate and may include details of the purported employment opportunity such as job description, salary, work schedule and benefits. They sometimes request payment to obtain visas or immigration documents and may promise reimbursement for all costs.

Please be wary of fraudulent activity when assessing a communication regarding potential employment or an invitation to submit an application, supposedly from Tesoro.


Please do not send money or provide any personal details to anyone suggesting they can provide employment with Tesoro. If you have applied for a position through a legitimate channel, we will have the needed information.

If you are unsure a communication you have received is genuine, please review the guidance below:

  • Do not send money. No money transfers or payments of any kind will ever be requested by Tesoro as part of the recruitment process. We will never request payment for VISAs or other employment-related services or requirements.
  • Tesoro website pages always include Any other format is not genuine.
  • Verify the email address. Tesoro e-mail addresses always end in “”. Any e-mail containing the Tesoro logo but using a different e-mail format is not genuine. Regardless of the origin of the e-mail, you should always question the authenticity of any unsolicited e-mails seeking money or personal details, irrespective of the e-mail address.
